StaffCAN Staffing Solutions Agency was born out of a blend of entrepreneurial passion and personal necessity. As a P.Eng. with business experience and my wife an experienced RN, We understood the advantages of business ownership but she always enjoyed the comfort of being an employee. Sarah, a dedicated CSICU-trained RN, and I faced a tough financial situation during her maternity leave due to rising living costs and interest rates. Coupled with the reduced income from her maternity leave, we faced a substantial financial gap. Traditional employment and its financial constraints were no longer viable solutions as the costs of childcare would consume much of her earnings.

Determined to find a better way, we explored travel nursing and discovered its potential to transform her nursing career. By becoming an independent contractor, Sarah not only retained full earnings without deductions but also benefited from significant tax advantages. She resigned from her full-time hospital position and embraced the role of a local travel nurse. However, we realized that her agency provided little support in navigating the business aspects of becoming a nurse contractor.
